The shell is still in progress.  When I put the shell on ork vehicles I measure for the space I'm trying to fill.  This does mean you rarely have a square angle anywhere.  If you end up with a funny gap just cover it with a bit or armor patch:

I used the inside fender wells on the front to hold up the fenders.  I just made a rough measurement and shoved them in there.
